Becoming the Father My Kids Deserve

The Mission Behind This Blog

I’m not trying to be the strongest, smartest, fastest, or most admired man in the room.
But I am trying to be something more important:
The best father I can be—for the children God has entrusted to me.

This blog is my way of committing to that pursuit—not as a perfect man but as a present one.
Not to impress others but to invest in my family and invite other dads to do the same.

Why This Blog Exists

I’m not a parenting expert. I’m a dad in the trenches—juggling work, stress, tired eyes, toddler chaos, marriage, and a deep desire to lead my family well.

I’ve failed plenty. But I keep showing up.

Because this calling—fatherhood—matters more than almost anything else I’ll ever do.

I’m building this blog to:

  • Share honest reflections about being a father

  • Write down what I’m learning—failures, wins, and lessons in between

  • Offer practical advice that’s rooted in biblical truth

  • Encourage other fathers who are striving to lead well

This isn’t a highlight reel. It’s a real-time journal of growth, grit, and grace.

10 Pillars I’m Pursuing as a Father

Here’s the framework that will guide this series—and much of my fatherhood:

  1. Love their mother well

  2. Be present and attentive

  3. Shepherd their hearts with biblical wisdom

  4. Discipline with love, not anger

  5. Be a source of strength, stability, and safety

  6. Show affection and encouragement

  7. Lead by example

  8. Teach them to love the outdoors and physical activity

  9. Train them to be wise and independent thinkers

  10. Enjoy them and have fun

Each principle will get its own dedicated post—with stories, application, and real talk from a dad trying to live it out.

Let’s Walk This Together

If you’re a dad who feels the weight and wonder of raising kids well.
If you’ve messed up but still want to lead.
If you want to leave a legacy your children can stand on.

You’re not alone. And you’re not too late.

Let’s grow into this calling together.
